Important: Security and Banned Users

Every now and again, as with all forums, we attract certain people who join for the wrong reasons. This usually involves people who just want to advertise a completely unrelated footwear website in China. Today, a new member joined from abroad that is known to other forums as someone who 'phishes' or in other words sends people emails with the hope of personal gain. If you recieve any suspicious emails from unknown sources then please don't reply or follow any links. This applies generally and is not specific to this forum.

As a further securitty precaution, I recommend that you hide your email address by going to Profile -> Hide email address from public? and tick the box. Only you and forum admin will still be able to see your email. No-one else will. Members will still be able to contact each other through private messaging where you can swap email addresses if that's easier for you.

NB: The member in question this time is Celina111 and has a Yahoo.com email address. This member was banned within 20 minutes of joining the forum.

Two more spammers joined this morning.... at the same time! One advertising online pharmacy and the other pornographic links. They seemed to be from different countries too which is interesting. Coincidence? Would they really go to the trouble of using a proxy or is it some kind of botnet? If a frog had wings would it bump his ass when it hopped?

Anyway, they were banned just as they were posting.  ::)

Another well known troublesome person has joined today and been swiftly banned. He/she/it has been disabling forums worldwide and so I have taken precautionary measures of banning them and disallowing the upload of avatars and attachments until a 'patch' is ready.  ::)

Evolution must really drag for some. Sad shallow people that don't have anything worthwhile to contribute to life.
