A train, a bike and a stresshead...
« on: February 17, 2010, 11:42:45 PM »
Hey guys

I have a few days off work and decided to plan some activites (in my geeky kinda way! ). I thought i'd go to London, see my folks (get some home cooking and a bit of spoiling as you do), go and see old Vincent Van Gogh at the Royal Academy (tomorrow and very excited) and do some cycling. So I pre-booked my train tickets to London and checked I could take my bike ok - no problem. Tickets non-refundable.

Pretty pleased with my planning. I then spent the week preceeding my little trip worrying that I wouldn't get my bike on the train because it would be too busy, it wouldn't fit (cos there might be another bike already there) and I couldn't get a new ticket (cos I have no spare money) and then I wouldn't be able to see my folks (thus dissapointing everyone) and missing Vincent (which would have really upset me) and then staying home in Brighton in my misery. I mean, gawd!! A little tiny journey into London, with my bike, that I actually have done before (and ok, still always anxious) its is just bonkers! I have to stop doing this!!

You'll all be very pleased to know that it all went smoothly and I got myself and bike onto Train with plenty of room. I won't mention that I ran for the particular train section and made sure I was first in line...

I joke about it but everyday its something like this...I will strive to beat the demons! I will now say goodnight to you all, I am safely in London watching the winter olympics and a very strange sport called curling...which looks very dull (apologies to all curlers out there!) so off to sleep me thinks

yay! well done for the trip that is excellent news! your post really made me laugh, that's EXACTLY what i do, i look forward to something and make all the plans and picture myself having the best time! Then slowly but surely doubts start creeping in and I go through every single disaster that could happen. I obsess over everything so much that soon everything I have planned seems like such a massive step and I somehow put the fear of god into myself! So big congrats from me that you made the trip, hope you had a great time. I am jealous you got to see the Van Gogh exhibition.
