I've lost my little old cycle man
« on: August 16, 2010, 06:49:46 PM »
Where is my little old cycle man wearing his suit? I?m guessing there?s a bit of head scratching going on with a ?she?s lost the plot??not that I had it to start with by the way.

I cycle regularly and last summer, on a certain day and at a certain time?I would pass an elderly gentleman, wearing a suit and a jacket whilst on his bicycle. We would pass roughly on the same stretch of the cycle path and he would always give me a smile. But I don?t know where he?s gone and wonder what has happened to him. This man, whom I didn?t know except by a smile during a season.

For those who live in Hove, there?s an older lady (with slightly crazy hair) with a very old and looks like it may fall apart, shopper bike. I?m not sure I?ve ever seen her ride the darn thing until the other day, as she zoomed down the pavement. I look out for this lady with her shopper bike, and it makes me glad that I see her?although it appears to me that she doesn?t smile much at the world. But I am glad to see her anyway.

Anyway, I love those little connections with people ?crikey, did I just get all grown up and serious? *cycle girl slaps herself round the head*

Must be the tiredness!

If anyone see?s my little man on a cycle wearing a suit?please let me know?and don?t forget to give him a smile  ;D

I adore people watching as well! Not sure I've spotted your little cycle man, but shall keep my eyes peeled, he does sound very dapper! Think I might have seen the old lady that you mentioned speeding round near Sackville Rd one afternoon. Brighton and Hove are really well stocked with "eccentric" types! I've even seen people on Penny Farthings cycling merrily down by the sea front in full Edwardian Attire.

my little old man was indeed very dapper and the lady you mentioned sounds like my shopping bike lady...bless.

I'm not sure that I am good at people watching, am too busy living in my own world mostly lol but there are sometimes people who captivate me. The old man, because he took the time to smile at the world..and the old lady? well, maybe because she doesn't smile so much and looks like she may live outside the lines a bit...gotta love hove, actually  ;D

I think I've seen the penny farthing dude...its why you gotta love living down here...its crazy but cool  :)

Gotta love the eccentricities of life if you live in Brighton and Hove - sometimes it can resemble a Dr Who storyline >:D  ???  :o  ;D

I think living in ones own head is a sign of a well honed imagination, well that's what I tell myself anyway as I walk along with my head in the clouds, or somewhere far beneath the ocean haha

But these unobtrusive little moments are definitely the pleasure of the dreamy type.

Yes Hove actually is a darling place, I keep discovering little hidden corners, and wonderful bit's of architecture all over the place! I'm totally in love with the old 1930's derelict cinema building on Portland Road, I love the suggestion of faded glamour about the place, and the fact people now sit outside it eating chips unaware that the cinema was opened by a film star back in it's heyday. Who knows maybe your old lady and gent even saw a film there!

So true and how pleasing that I'm not the only one in Hove wondering round with my head in the clouds....can get a bit dicey with death though...as I found trying to cross roads *note to self, you will at least look where youir crossing, oops*

Its like a little secret isn't it? This secret place with secret memories...and I love the idea of my lady and gent being part of that *thumbs up*
