Roll up its the Great British debate
« on: August 26, 2010, 08:23:48 PM »
well I've had a ****ty day but can't go through the trauma of reliving it just yet (one that even my work colleague is horrified by..bad sign) so have decided to embark on a less strenous journey of discovery (but no less important)...one to do with our great land.

I?ve been  asked an interesting question. Do I like Great Britain? I have decided to rise to the challenge!

Now, I?ve never really considered this and didn?t have much of an answer, but you?ll be glad to know that I?ve made some headway with this, cycle girl stylie. Please bear in my mind that my experiences are limited to living in London, Brighton, Chester and my rich inner world  ;D. I have had occasional visits to other various parts of our great land so feel sufficiently qualified...

So, lets consider the great British debate (or what I think are the main bit?s a la cyclegirl world):

The food:
Pies - I do like a good pie?although so hard to find these days
Pizza, Chinese takeaways and currys?hmm yes please!
Egg and chips - thumbs up
The great British roast - now, whats a Sunday afternoon without a roast, the paper and a large pint of beer?
Score on the food for me?you can see I?m not that fussy *grin*

The drinks:
Ale - now what?s that about?
Tea  - hmm, never liked tea much but I seem to have developed a liking for it. I fear its an age thing..as with
Horlicks: yes, you did hear that right?on an occasional night, a nice cup of horlicks (sshhh don?t tell anyone)
Sherry: ??? Haven?t quite gotten there but I fear the time is fast approaching *eek*
No score on the drinks front - sorry GB

Sport:
Not a lot of point with this one really is there?!
Nil points

Pubs:
Now I LOVE our pubs, all of em (well maybe not the ?old man? pubs so much)?in as many places as possible please. Extra points!

Scenery:
I have to say, that I have seen some very delightful and splendid scenery and views?so not going to say anything cheeky (so there!)
Full points..yay

The weather:
Oh yes, a topic so many of us ponder over. I think it is designed to torture and torment for the most part . I do like a summer?as much as possible please and  a bit of snow at Christmas to make it a bit festive.
Will give points for trying  :D

So, a short summary of my thoughts and I think, yeah, I do quite like GB for the most part?its home..innit?

?saying that if anyone?s got a spare one way  ticket to Mexico , New York,  Brazil or  Morrocco?will trade for slightly bendy travel pass (does get you as far as Eastbourne) and  a slightly shambolic, albeit loved, bicycle with a dodgy bell J

Queue up nicely please!

Am glad that I have cheered. I seem to have an aversion to seriousness *shivers at the thought*

I have pondered on your whisky question and am afraid to say, does not qualify in GB delights. Far too 'posh old man' like for my liking *runs away*

However! I am prepared to drink as much as I can to assess potential, so pass the bottle (got to have coke with it though - what can I say, I'm common *grin*)

Bottoms up
